The first wave of recall elections was completed on July 26, with all 24 recall cases of Kuomintang (KMT) legislators not passing, a result that left many supporters feeling disappointed and frustrated. In response, Yang Dazheng, lead singer of the Taiwanese band “Fire Extinguisher,” took to Facebook that evening to express: “The darkness will always pass, and when the sun comes out, it will be a good day.”
On the evening of July 26, following the results of the recall elections, Yang Dazheng wrote on Facebook: “There’s nothing to be devastated about. Right now, it’s just about maintaining the status quo. Let’s all bear it together, continue to work hard together. Thank you to everyone who has worked hard. The darkness will always pass, and when the sun comes out, it will be a good day. May you succeed, Taiwan!”
After the post went public, netizens left comments: “Feeling very despairing, reading Yang Da’s post makes me want to cry. Everyone has worked hard…” There were also netizens who reignited their confidence: “Let’s cheer together, there’s still the second half! Let’s pass another hurdle…,” “Gratitude, thank you! You’ve worked hard!,” “Thank you, Dazheng.”
In fact, before the voting, Yang Dazheng actively supported the recall activities by performing at events such as the “Return to Qingdao, Protecting the Nation and Safeguarding Taiwan Gala” and the “Marching Towards Success on the Ketagalan Boulevard Gala.”
May Taiwan attain smooth sailing in the face of challenges!
