Put on Your Bell-bottoms! College League Invites You to Dance Together.

The Northern California Chinese Alumni Association Federation will host the “Reminiscing Youth Go-Go” midsummer dance on Saturday, June 21st at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City. With over four hundred alumni and friends eagerly signing up, seats are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

President Xie Zaoxun of the alumni association stated that the midsummer dance, as the highlight of the summer, will be an evening for everyone to enjoy music, dance, and make new friends. Through this event, we hope to lead everyone in reliving their youthful years and reminiscing about the wonderful campus moments.

He introduced the four highlights of this year’s event as follows:

Venue and Atmosphere: The dance will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, featuring 41 tables and a spacious dance floor accommodating over three hundred people. The elegant space design, professional lighting, and retro 1970s campus music will create a lively, romantic, and nostalgic dance atmosphere.

Performance Lineup: The well-known Bay Area band “Evergreen Band” will bring a dynamic live performance, accompanied by performances from alumni association members and dance groups to add a personal touch.

Vintage Theme: Guests are encouraged to dress in 1970s style attire such as bell-bottoms, floral shirts, or school uniforms to showcase their individuality and recreate the classic campus look.

Food Arrangement: Chinese-style cuisine will be provided on-site, including shredded pork sandwiches and Crowne Plaza’s signature mochi, along with complimentary beverages and plenty of drinking water for guests to replenish their energy and enjoy themselves.

He added that the midsummer dance is not only for alumni to relive their youth but also aims to attract young blood to participate and get to know the alumni association and overseas Chinese community activities. The organizers are actively reaching out to alumni communities in the Bay Area, including universities such as Jiaotong University, Central University, and Tatung University, and encouraging the establishment of new alumni organizations at Changhua Normal University and Chung Cheng University to expand participation base. They also invite young Chinese speakers in the US and Canada to join, promoting inter-school, intergenerational, and intercultural exchanges.

This event is positioned as a relaxed social dance suitable for individuals from all walks of life who want to chat, enjoy food, and make friends, hoping that guests will have a great time and leave with beautiful memories.

Additionally, the event’s executive chairperson, Ma Qianjun, Vice Presidents Huo Qinglai and Vice Secretary He Jiamin (on behalf of Secretary Wei Ling), Treasurer Wu Guoting, and Vice Treasurer Lin Meiling, attended the press conference.
