Prominent Real Estate Developer Sun Yin from Shaanxi Passes Away, Rumored to Have Jumped to Her Death

On June 19, a shocking news spread in the business circle of Shaanxi province, China, about the passing of the well-known entrepreneur and Chairman of Tianlang Holdings Group, Sun Yin, causing strong tremors within the industry. Reports suggested that she had died by jumping off a building.

According to entertainment blogger “Eggplant Movies” who disclosed the news on NetEase on June 20, the first person to release this information was the founder of the self-media “Zhenguan,” who posted a black-and-white photo of Ms. Sun Yin framed in black on his social media account.

Subsequently, a journalist from the “Sanqin Metropolitan News” reposted Sun Yin’s resume on social media with the caption, “Heard in the morning, unbelievable, every family has its hidden sorrows.”

The news quickly spread among Shaanxi entrepreneurs and was confirmed, with several business figures expressing their condolences through social media or WeChat groups.

On that evening, Tianlong Holdings officially announced the passing of Sun Yin, founder and Chairman of Tianlang Holdings Group in Xi’an, due to “ineffective medical treatment,” at 10 a.m. on the same day, at the age of 64.

However, many online sources claimed that she had died by jumping off a building. A netizen from Shaanxi commented, “The rumor in Xi’an is that she jumped off a building!”

“Asia Finance” posted a comment on Platform X stating, “Evergrande has fallen, Vanke, Rongchuang, Country Garden, Wanda, one after another, none can escape, the big show has just begun. Most real estate developers have long been restricted from leaving the country, under multi-sector surveillance, after a long period of despair, choose suicide to find relief…”

Sun Yin’s last public appearance was in January of this year. According to blogger “180 Perspective,” she and a few others were interviewed by “Time Person of the Year” magazine, after which she disappeared from the public eye, even missing important internal events of the group she was supposed to attend.

As per the aforementioned article, Sun Yin was born in 1961, her father, Sun Dare, served as the Deputy Governor of Shaanxi Province. After venturing into business, she initially engaged in import and export trade, later transitioning to the real estate sector. In 2001, she established Tianlang Real Estate Group Co., Ltd., quickly transforming from a regional real estate developer to a national urban operator within two to three years, operating 10 sales projects simultaneously in Xi’an at its peak.

However, Sun Yin’s life was not always smooth sailing. According to blogger “180 Perspective,” her husband, He Jiuchang, previously served as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shaanxi Province’s Development and Reform Commission, and also the Chairman of Yan Chang Petroleum Group. In 2021, He Jiuchang was sentenced to 11 years in prison for serious violations of discipline and law, causing a significant impact on Sun Yin.

Furthermore, Sun Yin was reported by name for being “related to criminal gangs” in August 4, 2022. Jia Ailian, the legal representative of a company named Shanxi Ganen Property, reported online that “Sun Yin is suspected of being involved in organized crime, including stamp forgery, signing contracts under false names, organizing gang members to provoke troubles, forcibly seize property fee rights, illegally occupy properties worth hundreds of millions of yuan, and suspected of extortion.”

Jia Ailian stated in the report that Sun Dare, the former Deputy Governor of Shaanxi, Yan Chang Petroleum General Manager He Jiuchang, disgraced official Zhao Zhengyong, and Wei Minzhou were all umbrellas for Tianlang Group. Sun Yin reportedly relied on these complex relationships to dominate the real estate industry in Shanxi, bullying the weak with her power.
