Political Seasons: Taiwan’s Major Recall Election, Beijing Loses

Taiwan held a major recall vote on July 26, and all 25 recall motions failed. Recall actions are inherently difficult, with very few successful cases. While the outcome of this recall vote may seem like a short-term result, its impact is long-lasting.

Regardless of the winners or losers, this unprecedented recall action has made Taiwanese people cherish their voting rights even more. When people realize that their votes can truly bring about changes in their future, their families’ and their own security, as well as determine their way of life, they will not give up on exercising their voting rights.

The past experiences in Hong Kong constantly remind Taiwanese people that it is the Communist Party of China that threatens their right to elections. This increased voter awareness has made the CCP the biggest loser in this situation.
