The San Fernando Police Department in California is currently investigating nearly 10 cases of theft and vandalism targeting businesses in the area. In one of the instances, the thief even left behind a note of apology after committing the crime.
According to reports from the city’s news agency, last week’s thefts included incidents at businesses such as Teriyaki Madness on Truman Street, San Fernando Coffee Company, Quieres TacosWay and Rigo’s Tacos, Aszkenazy Development real estate company, Club de Nutrición Protein Stop, and Baskin Robbins ice cream shop.
San Fernando Coffee Company was robbed on July 30th, with the thief breaking in through a window and stealing the cash register. The owner, Isaiah Rosario, expressed that “this week has been emotionally turbulent for us.” Despite there being only $6 in the cash register, the cost of replacing it amounted to around $1,000.
The neighboring Teriyaki Madness restaurant was targeted twice last week. Surveillance cameras captured a male thief breaking in through a window and going straight for the cash register. Before fleeing the scene, the thief left a note saying, “Sorry! Needed money for drugs, won’t come back.”
Authorities are working diligently to determine if these series of incidents are the work of the same individual or group.
Police Chief Fabian Valdez of the San Fernando Police Department stated to the media that they have deployed more undercover officers and increased patrols in hopes of solving the cases. He urged community members to report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that “see something, say something,” and highlighted the importance of residents being the eyes and ears of the police force.
