President Trump said in his address, “The duty of the American military is not to hold fashion shows or transform foreign countries, nor is it to spread democracy to the world at gunpoint, but to be able to overwhelm, confront, and eliminate any force or enemy that threatens the United States anytime, anywhere.”

The President also emphasized that the United States will “seek peace through strength” and is committed to building the most powerful and respected military in order to deter adversaries.
