Recently, a pair of newly born Siberian tiger twin cubs made their first public appearance at the Budapest Zoo in Hungary, showcasing their adorable and charming presence.
On Thursday, June 12th, these rare tiger babies underwent their first health check-up and vaccination at the Budapest Zoo, and made their debut in front of the media. Situated in the City Park in the heart of the Hungarian capital, Budapest, the zoo was opened to the public in 1866 and has since become one of the oldest zoos in Europe, now serving as a significant institution for animal conservation and exhibition in Europe.
Born on April 13th, these twin tiger cubs, one male and one female, currently weigh 9.2 kilograms and 8.4 kilograms, respectively. This is the first time in 12 years that the Budapest Zoo has welcomed tiger cubs. Their parents are an 8-year-old male tiger named “Dáriusz” and a 3-year-old female tiger named “Agnes”.
Siberian tigers, also known as Amur tigers or Northeast tigers, are the largest subspecies of tigers currently in existence. They are mainly found in Eastern Russia, Korea, and Northeast China, with a wild population of less than 600 individuals. They are classified as an endangered species and are considered one of the flagship species for global biodiversity conservation.
