On Monday, January 20, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States in the Capitol Building, marking the beginning of his second term in office. During the inauguration, Trump used both the Bible of Abraham Lincoln and his personal Bible, with Chief Justice John Roberts presiding over the ceremony.
In his oath, Trump solemnly declared, “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will do my best to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Vice President-elect and former Senator J.D. Vance also took the oath of office with the presence of his family. Unlike the President, the Vice President’s oath is designated by Congress, and Justice Brett Kavanaugh of the Supreme Court administered the oath to Vance. Vance’s oath emphasized his support for and defense of the Constitution, pledging to fulfill his duties faithfully.
The inauguration ceremony attracted numerous former presidents, business leaders, and political figures, showcasing the tradition and stability of American democracy. Trump’s inauguration was not just a transfer of power but also symbolized the continuation and resilience of the American democratic system.
