On Thursday evening, President Trump visited a law enforcement center in Washington D.C. to show his appreciation to the police and National Guard members working there. He distributed pizza and hamburgers as a gesture of gratitude for their efforts in combating crime in the nation’s capital.
The law enforcement department is located in the Anacostia neighborhood in southeast Washington D.C. and is under the jurisdiction of the United States Park Police (USPP). It serves as a focal point for the recent intensified efforts by the U.S. government to combat violent criminal activities in the capital.
In a brief address, Trump said, “I’m here just to sincerely thank all of you. I wanted to do this. We have achieved some incredible results, and it feels like a different place here, like another city. This is the capital, it will become the best place in the world.”
Accompanying Trump were key cabinet members such as Attorney General Pam Bondi, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. Also in attendance were Washington D.C.’s Chief Federal Prosecutor Jeanine Pirro and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
The Trump administration has highlighted the worsening security situation in Washington D.C., particularly noting the challenges faced by local police in addressing violent crimes and homelessness. This has led to the necessity of federal intervention in the region.
