On the verge of Christmas approaching, the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, visited the Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. on Friday, December 5th to meet with sick children and their families. She spent time reading stories and interacting closely with the children, creating heartwarming and touching moments.
During her visit, Melania, accompanied by Faith and Riley, two children undergoing treatment, sat in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the hospital atrium. She read a funny Christmas story titled “How Does Santa Go Down the Chimney” to a group of children.
Additionally, she visited children with blood cancer in the hospital’s oncology department, engaging in conversations with patients, their families, doctors, nurses, and administrative staff, bringing warmth and encouragement to this special group who are unable to celebrate the holidays with their families.
Melania expressed, “Visiting the Children’s National Hospital during the Christmas season is a tradition that I hold dear. I am grateful for the opportunity to be here again this year, spending holiday time with these brave children and their families.”
The tradition of the First Lady of the United States visiting sick children during the Christmas season dates back to Bess Truman, who served as the First Lady from 1945 to 1953.
