Photo Gallery: Guangdong Hit by Disastrous Heavy Rain, Extreme Weather Continues

Following days of heavy rainfall in Guangdong Province, China, a total of 70 heavy rain warnings have been issued across the province. Floods have occurred in areas such as Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Yingde, with roads submerged, farmlands affected, and resulting in multiple casualties.

Authorities reported that as of April 23, 3 people had died in Zhaoqing and 1 person in Shaoguan, with 10 individuals still missing in Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and other areas. A total of 110,000 people have been evacuated in the province, and 25,800 people have been urgently relocated. However, photos and videos circulating online show many roads submerged, bridges collapsed, cars washed away, houses submerged in water, and residents trapped. This indicates that the disaster situation is exceptionally severe, raising doubts about the accuracy of the official data from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

On the morning of the 24th, the heavy rain subsided and the floodwaters began to recede. However, according to forecasts from the mainland meteorological department, the rainfall in Guangdong is not over yet, with heavy rain expected on the 25th and 26th. Shaoguan City may still experience exceptionally heavy rainfall, posing a high risk of disaster and a severe disaster prevention situation.

Many people suspect that the severity of the disaster is related to flood discharge, believing that authorities released a large amount of water from reservoirs to protect Guangzhou downstream.

In addition, on April 23 and 24, the Yangtze River Flood Control Headquarters and the Yellow River Conservancy Commission respectively stated that there could be significant floods in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River during this flood season.
