Photo Gallery: Funny Pet Photography Award Winners Announced, Dog Going Through a Cat Tunnel Wins Championship

Recently, the organizers of the Comedy Pet Photo Awards announced the final list of winners for this year’s competition, selecting 15 winning entries from 30 outstanding entries, with the title going to “A Dog Trying to Squeeze into a Cat Hole”.

This entertaining photography competition is co-hosted by two professional photographers and environmentalists, Tom Sullam and Paul Joynson-Hicks. These two photographers are also the founders of another renowned international photography competition, the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.

Apart from bringing joy to everyone, the Comedy Pet Photo Awards also aim to raise awareness about animal rights through the competition and attract support for animal welfare organizations. Paul Joynson-Hicks pointed out that these amusing photos convey a serious and important message, which is to “help, respect, and care for the animals around us in the most humane way possible”, hoping that as the competition grows annually, this belief can be conveyed to more people.

This year’s overall champion and the dog category champion was claimed by Sarah Haskell’s piece “Not Just For Cats”. The image shows Haskell’s pet dog, Hector, attempting to squeeze through a cat hole at home, only revealing a big nose and two long ears in the process.

Sarah explained that Hector saw cats freely coming and going through the hole on the door, so it wanted to give it a try as well, but this was the limit it could reach. “I can imagine it probably puzzled, thinking, ‘Why do cats make squeezing through look so easy?'”

Upon hearing about the win, Sarah expressed her excitement and immediately shared the good news with her beloved dog. She also mentioned that the Comedy Pet Photo Awards provide pet owners with an opportunity to showcase their funny pets and make the audience smile knowingly, expressing her delight in being able to participate with Hector.
