Taiwanese photographer Song Yongtai shared the beauty of Taiwan’s landscapes. The Nuo Mi Stone Bridge on the Beigang River in Guoxing Township, Nantou County was built in 1940. It is a roughly 20-meter-high four-arch bridge, the only third-grade historical site bridge in Taiwan, offering a stunning view.
According to Song Yongtai, the greenery surrounding the bridge piers on the Nuo Mi Stone Bridge over the Beigang River in Guoxing Township, Nantou County, along with the clear water flowing beneath the bridge, enhances the ancient and elegant charm of the four-arch bridge, making it a popular spot for many photographers.
Song Yongtai shared that they recently had the opportunity to visit Guoxing Township in Nantou County to photograph the Nuo Mi Stone Bridge because they happened to be on vacation. “It happened to rain that day, and after the rain cleared, the entire Beigang River, flowing under the Nuo Mi Stone Bridge, was really beautiful.”
The Nuo Mi Stone Bridge on the Beigang River has a history of over eighty years. During the time when cement was still considered precious in the Japanese colonial period, the entire bridge was built using a mixture of glutinous rice, brown sugar, and lime as adhesive for the stone blocks, which were quarried nearby. Therefore, locals refer to it as the Nuo Mi Stone Bridge.
Song Yongtai mentioned that the Nuo Mi Stone Bridge is a precious third-grade historical site in Taiwan. Visiting here evokes a sense of ancient nostalgia, imagining the people of the agricultural era crossing the bridge with their oxen, recalling the hardships of life in those years. He recommended, “This is a beautiful spot that makes you feel like you’ve traveled back to the 1950s and 60s. The entire route along this bridge is romantic and beautiful, definitely worth a visit.”
