The Taiwan Affairs Office of the Philippines Foreign Minister Manalo stated that the situation in the Taiwan Strait is crucial for the Philippines, hoping that all parties can resolve disputes peacefully. In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) welcomed the statement and expressed its willingness to continue deepening substantive cooperation with the Philippines under three pillars.
Foreign Minister Manalo of the Philippines made the remarks on the importance of the Taiwan Strait situation to the Philippines during the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP Forum) on the 16 August.
The Taiwan Affairs Office of the Republic of China (Taiwan) stated that after the inclusion of the importance of Taiwan Strait peace and stability in the joint statement between the Philippines and the United States on July 30 this year, the Philippines’ Foreign Minister publicly supported Taiwan Strait peace again. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed and appreciated this support and expressed its readiness to continue deepening substantive cooperation with the Philippines under the values of comprehensive diplomacy, alliances, and economic and trade cooperation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) mentioned that high-level officials of the Philippine government have recently expressed concerns about the situation in the Taiwan Strait, calling for the maintenance of peace and stability in the region, including President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., and Foreign Minister Manalo. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the continued efforts of the international community to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and uphold universal values of democracy, freedom, rule of law, and the free and open Indo-Pacific region.
