Pelosi Speaks at Czech Forum: CCP Unable to Isolate Taiwan

On October 17, 2024, former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi participated in the Czech “Forum 2000” in the form of a prerecorded video. She expressed her honor in visiting Taiwan in 2022 and emphasized that Xi Jinping cannot isolate Taiwan, stating that “the United States will stand united with this free and prosperous democracy.”

The Forum 2000 in the Czech Republic played a prerecorded video of former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the 15th. Pelosi expressed her honor in delivering a speech at the Forum 2000 in the Czech Republic, where many respected defenders of freedom and human rights gather in Prague annually to discuss urgent global issues.

Pelosi mentioned that when history books document this era, the central narrative will be the struggle between democracy and authoritarianism, emphasizing the need to demonstrate the determination and resilience of democracy. Around the world, authoritarian regimes are on the rise, intensifying attacks on freedom of speech and religion, even attempting to subvert and dismantle existing democratic systems.

“While we speak here, the heroes of Ukraine are on the front lines, engaging in a fierce battle not only for their own freedom but for the freedom of the world,” Pelosi praised, highlighting the extraordinary courage and determination shown by Ukrainians in resisting Russia’s brutal aggression, inspiring everyone.

She stated that U.S. President Biden is rallying the world to stand with Ukraine, emphasizing the need to continue steadfastly supporting Ukraine in its fight for democracy until victory is achieved.

At the same time, Pelosi pointed out that China’s accelerated aggression towards the people of Taiwan remains an urgent and significant priority. She expressed her honor in visiting Taiwan in 2022, where she met with then-President Tsai Ing-wen and many leaders steadfast in defending freedom.

Pelosi stressed that during that visit, she made it clear that “Xi Jinping cannot isolate this island, and the United States will stand united with this free and prosperous democracy.”

Furthermore, Pelosi mentioned that many in the U.S. Congress are also concerned about the harsh experiences faced by women under authoritarian regimes, citing violent acts against Ukrainian women, repression of Afghan women, and brutal acts against Iranian women, saying, “Our hearts break.”

She stated, “Their voices must be heard, their stories must be told, and their future must be secured,” calling on the international community to pay attention to the rights of women under authoritarian regimes.
