Passengers Caught Smuggling 9 Live Fish at Shenzhen Port

On April 27, the General Administration of Customs of the Chinese Communist Party stated that a passenger was intercepted at the Futian Port of Huanggang Customs in Shenzhen, attempting to enter the country with 9 live fish.

That day, a passenger wearing a black jacket entered the immigration hall of the Futian Port, walking in a very uncoordinated manner with an unusually bulging abdomen. Customs officers approached to intercept and inspect the passenger, discovering a bag of live fish bound around the passenger’s waist and hidden in the jacket pockets.

The bag of live fish consisted of 3-line barbs and 6 blue-eyed yellow new brides fairy fish, with the line barb being an invasive species.

The General Administration of Customs of the Chinese Communist Party did not specify where this passenger was from.

It is said that live ornamental fish, snakes, centipedes, lizards, and other prohibited items are not allowed to be brought into the country.

Last year, two women from Shenzhen were caught carrying prohibited items into Shenzhen from Hong Kong.

In September last year, the Futian Port of Shenzhen reported that customs officers detected something unusual about a woman entering Shenzhen from Hong Kong. Eventually, they found that she was concealing 15 snakes, 4 centipedes, and 1 lizard on her body.

In June last year, at the Futian Port of Shenzhen, a female passenger entering from Hong Kong was found to have 5 corn snakes wrapped in stockings hidden in her chest.
