Passenger on East Airlines Dies Suddenly During Flight

On December 10th, in the early hours of the morning, a passenger on a flight from Urumqi to Nanjing operated by China Eastern Airlines suddenly passed away due to illness.

According to a netizen’s post on social media, they were a passenger on the flight and witnessed the incident. After the passenger fell ill, the flight attendants initially did not provide immediate medical assistance. Instead, a group of people surrounded the passenger, taking notes on paper. It was only after a passenger’s reminder that they began announcing over the speaker system to see if there were any doctors among the passengers. Upon arrival at Nanjing airport, it took 20 minutes for an ambulance to arrive.

The netizen, speaking to Jixiang News and “Xiaoxiang Morning News” on the morning of the 10th, revealed that they were on flight MU2675 from Urumqi Diwopu International Airport to Nanjing Lukou International Airport on the night of December 9th. About halfway through the journey, an elderly lady suddenly fell ill. The plane landed at Nanjing Lukou Airport around 00:10 on the 10th, and the elderly lady was taken away by an ambulance. However, there is no information on her current condition.

When “Xiaoxiang Morning News” contacted the Lukou International Airport hotline in Nanjing, the customer service representative mentioned that there was indeed a medical emergency incident but was not able to provide detailed information. Subsequently, the reporter called the airport’s emergency department, and the staff stated that details of the rescue operation could not be disclosed due to patient privacy concerns.

According to reporters from Jixiang News, the passenger who fell ill had no vital signs upon arrival at the hospital.

The incident has sparked heated discussions online.

Many netizens expressed their concerns, questioning the delayed response of the ambulance. Some commented, “Most deaths occur because ambulances are too slow, I’ve always wondered why?” “If it takes 20 minutes for an ambulance to arrive after landing, shouldn’t the pilot have contacted the control tower before landing to ensure prompt medical assistance?” “If the ambulance and personnel haven’t arrived even after 20 minutes of landing, there should be a thorough investigation into the reasons behind the delay.”
