On June 10th, on a flight of Eastern Airlines, a female passenger brought a sugar glider on board, which escaped and caused a delay due to safety concerns. Currently, the passenger has been administratively detained.
On that day, netizens from mainland China revealed on social media that on a flight from Shanghai to Jinan operated by Eastern Airlines, a female passenger brought a pet sugar glider onto the plane, leading to all passengers disembarking and waiting on the ground.
The flight took off from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport with flight number MU5599, causing a delay of about 1 hour due to the incident.
On June 11th, the International Airport Branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau officially reported on Weibo that on a flight from Shanghai to Jinan on June 10th, a 34-year-old female passenger, Ms. Guo, violated regulations by carrying a pet sugar glider on board, which escaped in the cabin, was later caught by others, and consequently caused a delay due to safety issues.
Currently, Ms. Guo has been administratively detained.
According to Eastern Airlines’ official website, on the evening of June 10th, flight MU5599 from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport to Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport was scheduled to depart at 9:25 pm, but actually took off at 10:35 pm, with a delay of 1 hour and 10 minutes.
