Partial Collapse of One Bridge on Xiarong Expressway, Suspected Multiple Vehicles Fell

On the morning of June 24th, part of the Xiarong Highway in Sandu Shui Autonomous County, Guizhou Province suddenly collapsed, causing multiple vehicles to fall.

Around 9:30 am on June 24th, a netizen reported that a section of the Xiarong Highway in Sandu Shui Autonomous County, Guizhou Province, had experienced a partial collapse.

Video footage shows that some trucks managed to stop in time, but their front ends were left hanging in the air. There were vehicles below the bridge, likely fallen during the collapse of the bridge. It seemed to be raining at the scene.

In one video clip, a red truck remained on the road surface, but its front end was hanging in the air, with the driver still in the cabin. Onlookers shouted to the driver, “You are lucky, it’s dangerous! We can only wait for the firefighters to come! There’s no signal!” They also mentioned that two small cars had fallen below. The driver advised the onlookers not to move forward, and they quickly noticed cracks in the road surface and retreated.

In the comments section, some netizens mentioned that the incident occurred at Xiarong Highway towards Rongjiang on the way to Sandu County, at the Qiandong Gas Station towards Rongjiang direction, with the highway being 150 meters broken. They advised everyone to take a detour.

Several mainland Chinese media outlets have reported the incident and contacted relevant departments. A staff member from the Sandu County Emergency Management Bureau stated that the area was experiencing a disruption in internet, phone, and electricity services.

The event quickly became a hot topic, sparking discussions and concerns.

According to an official announcement from the Traffic Police Detachment of the Public Security Bureau of Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, due to heavy rain, the Xiarong Highway’s 1263 km uplink lane is temporarily closed. In response, temporary traffic controls have been implemented for vehicles heading from Guangxi to Guiyang; all vehicles should divert towards the Lirong and Jianrong expressways at the 1221 km point of the uplink lane (Xiarong Highway Huangmeng Interchange).
