On November 29, 2024, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Paraguay, led a delegation to visit Taiwan and met with President Tsai Ing-Wen. During the meeting, Ramírez conveyed Paraguay’s steadfast and deepening friendship and support towards Taiwan.
President Tsai expressed her gratitude to the Paraguayan government for their unwavering support in Taiwan’s international participation and advocacy. She hoped that the collaborative projects between the two countries would continue to deepen and generate maximum benefits for the peoples of both nations.
In his remarks, Minister Ramírez highlighted the significance of his 11th visit to Taiwan and the strong partnership between the two countries. He conveyed Paraguay’s firm friendship and support for Taiwan, emphasizing the importance of the bilateral cooperation in various sectors such as health, education, agriculture, transportation, technology, and trade.
Ramírez thanked Taiwan for its longstanding cooperation and support to Paraguay, showcasing the meaningful 67-year diplomatic relationship between the two nations on the international stage. He assured President Tsai that Paraguay’s diplomatic ties with Taiwan would continue to deepen and that they would continue advocating for Taiwan on the global platform.
President Tsai warmly welcomed Minister Ramírez and his delegation’s visit, acknowledging the strong bonds between the two nations. She appreciated President Peña’s and the Paraguayan government’s steadfast support for Taiwan’s international engagement, especially highlighting their advocacy efforts at international forums such as the UN and INTERPOL.
