Pan Yue Ming jokingly calls himself a professional painter and only acts in his spare time

Chinese actor Pan Yueming made his first appearance as a painter at a recent film event on the mainland. He jokingly said that painting is his profession, and acting is what he does in his spare time. He believes that painting and acting complement each other, and calligraphy and painting are his way of “pleasing himself.”

Pan Yueming is a well-known expert in creating “film titles.” He personally created the titles for the five films he starred in, such as “Nuguan Xiangxi,” “Longling Miku,” “Yunnan Chonggu,” “Kunlun Shenggong,” and “Nanhai Guixu.” He even designs corresponding fonts based on the different styles of the films, showcasing his versatility and creativity.

At a “Wanda Film” event held on the 16th, Pan Yueming said with a smile, “It’s the first time I’ve been on stage as a painter, and I’m very happy. I often joke with friends that I’m a professional painter who acts in my spare time.”

While waiting for a painting to dry, Pan Yueming gave an interview to the “Yangzi Evening News.” He mentioned that he was influenced by his father from a young age, participating in school calligraphy competitions annually, which planted the seed of his hobby. Now, he mainly writes and draws to relieve boredom, emphasizing that the most important thing is not technique but expression.

Pan Yueming mentioned his love for painting pandas, explaining, “My father influenced me to paint ink wash paintings, and I am particularly fond of the black and white of pandas. Pandas are unique to China, and their black and white represent the yin and yang, symbolizing the balance of colors, light and dark, right and wrong. There are many interesting meanings behind it, and I am willing to express my understanding of life through painting, using the image of pandas.”

Finally, Pan Yueming jokingly added, “Everyone pleases themselves, and painting is my way of pleasing myself. It’s a joke, but in aesthetic terms, it can be considered self-indulgent, as long as I’m happy.”

Pan Yueming rose to fame for his role in “White Night Chaser” portraying two very different characters: Guan Hongfeng, a highly intelligent and thoughtful man, and Guan Hongyu, a somewhat rogue character who is wrongly accused of murder. His performance has been praised by netizens as “transformative acting.”

Having overcome a car accident and a divorce from Dong Jie with the support of his parents, Pan Yueming expressed surprise at his sudden popularity in interviews. He mentioned that despite having acted in many films before, the response was not very positive, so he was unsure about this market. Humbly, he said, “Everyone is working hard, and I consider myself lucky. I hope to continue being fortunate in the future.”
