Several overseas organizations gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles on the afternoon of August 3rd with the theme “Democracy Cannot Be Deceived, and the Authoritarian CCP Must be Judged.” They condemned the Hong Kong government’s issuance of global arrest warrants for 19 members of the “Hong Kong Parliament” and showed support for Hong Kong democratic figures facing political persecution.
The organizations participating in this event included the China Democracy Party International Alliance, Hong Kong Democratic Buildnation Alliance, Hong Kong Parliament Office, Awakening New Generation, China Social Democratic Party, International Human Rights Watch, and others. They raised banners with slogans such as “Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of Our Times” and “Hong Kong Independence, the Only Way Out,” expressing anger and protest against the CCP’s cross-border suppression and human rights violations. At the event, the symbol of freedom, the flag of the Hong Kong Liberation, was raised, and everyone sang “Glory to Hong Kong,” uniting strong will for freedom and global solidarity.
A video was played at the event featuring Hong Kong national security law officer Lee Kwai-wah’s recent accusations against the “Hong Kong Democratic Buildnation Alliance,” stating that they were deemed “seriously splitting the country” for advocating “Liberate Hong Kong” and “Eliminate the Communist Party,” and threatening to extradite members to China where they could face the death penalty.
Mr. Leung Ka-wai, the current President of the Hong Kong Parliament and head of the Hong Kong Democratic Buildnation Alliance, addressed the crowd via video, recounting his escape from Hong Kong, being chased by the CCP’s underworld in Taiwan, and eventually obtaining asylum in Canada. He emphasized, “Even being overseas does not protect us from the CCP’s cross-border persecution, this struggle concerns global democratic security.”
The event organizer, Wang Xiaoguang, stated, “The Anti-Extradition Movement is a historical struggle that lacks a grand stage but embodies the hearts of the people, showing the courage and beliefs of the people of Hong Kong to the world. Now, the CCP is globally warranting dissenters with evil laws, becoming a blatant enemy of democracy. We must continue to expose, resist, and support!”
A video was simultaneously played at the event about the global petition “Wanted: Li Jiachao, Lee Kwai-wah, and other human rights criminals.” The initiator of the signature campaign, “Fragile Gentleman,” called for global support and introduced the case of Ao Ieng-sun suppressed by the Macau national security law, drawing attention and resonance from the participants at the event.
The head of the China Democracy Party International Alliance, Jian Lijian, stated in his speech, “Hong Kong is the frontier where the CCP’s tyranny expands towards the free world. Today, if we don’t speak up for the people of Hong Kong, tomorrow the CCP will jeopardize global democracy. The CCP regime has become the greatest threat to human freedom and the rule of law.”
The organizer, Jia Huigang, said, “The Hong Kong government is not enforcing the law but persecuting! Repeal the Evil National Security Law, release all political prisoners!”
The host, Le Zailin, urged, “The indomitable spirit of the Hong Kong people shines on the world, we must bring the cries of the people of Hong Kong to every corner!”
One of the organizers, Li Shiting, stated, “The CCP has destroyed the foundation of prosperity in Hong Kong, extending its grasp globally, becoming the enemy of all humanity. We must unite more forces of justice to thoroughly expose its brutal nature.”
Moreover, representatives from the Far East Youth Alliance, the Minyue Independence Movement, Han Yingchao, and Liu Yinquan, expressed their support for the Hong Kong protests through videos or live speeches.
Finally, a brief street parade was held, urging various sectors of Los Angeles society to pay attention to the crisis of democracy in Hong Kong, and to support the wanted legislators and all oppressed dissenters.
The organizers stated, “The event has prompted more people to understand the truth of the CCP’s national security law suppressing dissenters and has inspired a coordinated response from the overseas Hong Kong community. Dissident organizations from multiple countries have expressed their intention to launch similar support actions. This is not just a protest, but a vivid testimony to the global Chinese community’s unity against violence and protection of freedom. We will continue to promote international petitions, urging governments worldwide to sanction and hold accountable the CCP and the Hong Kong government for their cross-border suppression behaviors.”
