These events will coincide with the largest Taiwanese cultural festival in the Western United States, the “San Francisco Bay Area Taiwan Cultural Festival,” and the “Taste of Taiwan Light Snack Culinary Competition and Mother’s Day Carnival,” igniting a wave of enthusiasm for Taiwanese culture and cuisine in San Francisco and the Bay Area.

Among the guests present that day were Deputy Director Zhu Yongchang of the San Francisco Office, Director Zhuang Yashu of the Gold Mountain Bay Area Cultural and Educational Center, President Zhang Zhengbang of the Northern California Taiwanese Association, Program Director Liu Lingxia of the Northern California Taiwanese Association, General Manager Li Mingbin of the World Journal, Chairman Ma Peijun of the Taiwan-American Cultural Festival, President Han Naixun of the Taiwan-American Civic Alliance, and Gao Yuli, head of the Gold Mountain Bay Area Mom’s Classroom.

At the press conference, Zhuang Yashu detailed the upcoming activities.

On May 11th, the Taiwan-American Civic Alliance – Professional Taiwan-Americans’ San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (TAP-SF) will host the 31st Taiwan Cultural Festival at Union Square, the most popular location in San Francisco. This is the largest Taiwanese carnival event on the West Coast of the United States.

On the afternoon of May 12th, the baton will be passed to the Northern California Taiwanese Association, as they will host the 3rd “2024 United States Taiwan Traditional Week U.S.-Canada West Formosa Circus” 90-minute full performance at the Gold Mountain Bay Area Overseas Chinese Education Center. This will allow the mainstream community and overseas compatriots in the South Bay to experience the rich performing arts from Taiwan.

The Mom’s Classroom will host the Overseas Community Affairs Council’s “2024 Taiwan Cuisine International Lecture Tour,” bringing three Taiwanese culinary feasts to the Gold Mountain Bay Area from May 8th to 14th.

On May 12th, World Journal will hold a Mother’s Day Carnival in the parking lot behind the Overseas Chinese Education Center, promising a lively and exciting event.

Zhuang Yashu concluded by stating that May is Asian American Heritage Month in the United States, and the second week of May is Taiwan Traditional Week. This year, for the first time, the Gold Mountain Bay Area Overseas Chinese Education Center will combine the Overseas Community Affairs Council’s “2024 United States Taiwan Traditional Week U.S.-Canada West Formosa Circus” and the “Taiwan Cuisine International Lecture Tour.” Additionally, they will collaborate with the Northern California Taiwanese Association, youth organization TAP-SF, Gold Mountain Bay Area Mom’s Classroom, and World Journal to coordinate with the largest Taiwanese cultural festival in the Western United States and the “Taste of Taiwan Light Snack Culinary Competition and Mother’s Day Carnival.”

Looking forward to providing a diverse carnival experience through Taiwanese cuisine, quality performances, and Taiwanese carnivals, allowing the people of the San Francisco Bay Area to immerse themselves and experience the mesmerizing charm of Taiwan firsthand. ◇
