One day before the election poll: If one-on-one, Kumo can beat Mandani

On the day before the mayoral election in New York City (November 3), a recent poll indicated that the independent mayoral candidate and former governor Cuomo’s support rate is almost on par with the highly-touted Democratic mayoral candidate and socialist Mamdani. In a head-to-head competition, Cuomo is likely to emerge as the victor.

According to the poll released on the afternoon of the 3rd by AtlasIntel, in a scenario where voters were asked to choose among the current three candidates, the results were as follows: Mamdani 43.9%, Cuomo 39.4%, and the Republican mayoral candidate Sliwa at 15.5%, ranking third.

If the incumbent mayor Adams were to continue in the race, the ranking remains the same with the numbers shifting to: Mamdani 43.7%, Cuomo 32.7%, Sliwa 15.9%, and Adams garnering 6.4% of the votes.

In a hypothetical scenario where the ballot only includes Mamdani and Cuomo, Cuomo would receive 49.7% of the votes, surpassing Mamdani’s 44.1%.

This poll was conducted among over 2,400 registered voters between last Friday (October 31) and November 2, considering factors such as gender, age, income, education level, and race; with a margin of error of plus or minus 2%.

It is worth noting that among the voters surveyed in this poll, Democrats accounted for 59%, Republicans 19%, and Independents 22% – a breakdown that may not accurately reflect the actual party composition of voters in New York City. For instance, in early voting, Democrats comprised 73% of the voters, Republicans 11%, and Independents nearly 15%.
