Nvidia, the American chip giant, has announced a partnership with the newly established artificial intelligence company Humain in Saudi Arabia to provide high-end chips for its 500-megawatt data center construction.
On Tuesday (May 13), Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made the announcement at the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh. The statement comes during the visit of US President Trump to Saudi Arabia.
Huang stated that artificial intelligence requires a significant amount of power, and Saudi Arabia, with its abundant energy resources, has the capability to leverage Nvidia’s technology to unlock the potential in the field of artificial intelligence.
Humain, which was officially unveiled on Monday (May 12), is funded by the Saudi Public Investment Fund and aims to develop data centers, AI infrastructure, and large-scale Arabic language models. The CEO, Tareq Amin, mentioned that they plan to build a 1.9 gigawatt data center by 2030. The power consumption of data centers is typically measured in watts.
Saudi Arabia mandates that personal and financial data must be stored locally, leading multinational companies to set up data centers in the country to avoid losing contracts. In 2024, Amazon pledged to invest $10 billion in building data centers in the country. Google and Oracle also announced expansion plans in the country in 2024.
