Notice of Suspension of Publication of “New Era”: Hold on to the Light in Your Heart

In January 2, 2007, “New Epoch” Weekly was launched with Hong Kong as its main base. After 17 years and 8 months of operation, considering the current political environment in Hong Kong and factors such as the safety of the employees, “New Epoch” had to bid farewell to its readers and temporarily put an end to it in the 722nd issue (September issue).

As the staff of this publication, there was regret but not sorrow. Because the changes in the world often unfold at a pace and in directions that we cannot comprehend.

As we part ways temporarily, let us look back together at the “New Epoch inaugural speech” from 17 years ago:

The world is changing at a dazzling speed that leaves everyone amazed.

In this new epoch in the Eastern world, gradually taking center stage on the world platform. Historically, the Chinese, who have always been at the heart of the East, are now facing many challenges and seemingly unconvincing solutions. After experiencing a low point for over a hundred years, how the Chinese re-enter the world stage, will likely be a crucial factor in determining the future direction of the world.

On the other hand, the human spiritual world appears unsteady and hesitant. In the face of rapid material progress, individual humans are bewildered yet powerless. In an era where art gives way to electronic data, and philosophy yields to physics and molecular biology, human existence seems to be not the purpose in itself, but for some concept of more, better, larger, and stronger.

Some call this a collective vertigo of humanity, lost in the peak of the high-speed material world. This may not entirely be due to the rapid development of materialism but rather from a common weakness of human nature. Therefore, perhaps we need to momentarily pause our hurried steps, calm down, and re-examine the world we are in, observing the ever-changing trends and ourselves.

The world is material and spiritual.

The prerequisite for the rapid development of human society has always been the eruption and rise of the spiritual world, that is true across times and regions. For the Chinese, the complex world requires a sharp-witted mind, an ancient yet fresh perspective from the East, to face the new era.

As we are about to pause this publication, we suddenly realize that the words from the inaugural speech 17 years ago seemed to both confirm the world’s subsequent development and remind us how to move towards the future.

It is a tragic era, for the Chinese, the past century has been filled with conflicts, contradictions, and even bloody struggles. Yet, it is also an era of hope, where despite the darkness, this ethnic group has never ceased to hope, and we are truly closer to a new dawn than ever before.

No matter when or where, no matter how dark the night may be, as long as we guard the light in our hearts, darkness can never overcome us.

Thank you for your companionship and support all along. With this article, let us encourage all our readers.

Although the magazine is ceasing publication, the “New Epoch” website will continue to provide quality content and speak for the truth.

As the night passes and the time comes, we will once again sing the eternal song of the New Epoch.
