Nostalgia for “Irretrievable Friendship” Triggers Thoughts, Yang Jinhua: Don’t Jump to Conclusions

Taiwanese artist Yang Jinhua recently participated in a reality show in mainland China, where she talked about an “irreversible friendship,” prompting netizens to speculate that she was referring to her former best friend, Xiao Yaxuan. Today, at an event in Taipei, facing questions from the public, she awkwardly responded, “Everyone is thinking too much, don’t jump to conclusions.”

During a teeth-straightening product endorsement event today, many questioned whether her earlier mention of friendship in the show was about Xiao Yaxuan. She clarified that people were over-interpreting and when asked if she had not been in contact with Xiao Yaxuan for a long time, she evaded the question by pretending to brush her teeth with an electric toothbrush, indicating her unwillingness to discuss the topic further.

When pressed by the media about the “status of her friendship with Xiao Yaxuan,” she emphasized that she has many friends and is in her forties now. She likened friendships to getting on and off a car – some friends stay, some leave.

Regarding her comments in the show about “trying to salvage a friendship,” she admitted it was as presented in the program, neither confirming nor denying her intention to salvage the friendship.

Asked about the biggest challenge of participating in the reality show in mainland China, Yang Jinhua mentioned it was accepting various challenges since she is not a singer. She likened the experience to starting from scratch, similar to her early days as an actress. Therefore, she was determined to give her best effort in every task, feeling like a primary school student again.

Yang Jinhua believes life is short, and one won’t know if they can withstand challenges until they try. Previously seeking advice from Ella (Chen Chia-hwa), she also expressed her wish to continue improving her dancing skills.
