North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Robinson injured during campaign event

**Republican Vice Governor Mark Robinson of North Carolina Hospitalized after Accident at Campaign Event**

Republican Vice Governor Mark Robinson’s campaign team stated on Friday, September 27th, that he was injured and hospitalized in an accident during a campaign event.

According to a spokesman for Robinson’s campaign, Mike Lonergan, Robinson was injured while appearing at the Mayberry Truck Show in Mount Airy, North Carolina.

Lonergan added that Robinson is receiving treatment for second-degree burns at the Northern Regional Hospital in the northern region.

“He is in good spirits and appreciates everyone’s well wishes. He is looking forward to returning to the campaign event on Saturday morning as planned,” said Lonergan.

Lonergan did not provide further details on the cause of the burns.

Mount Airy, located about 100 miles north of Charlotte, North Carolina, near the Virginia border, is where the late TV star Andy Griffith grew up.

A law enforcement source told CNN that Robinson’s burns were the result of an accident at the truck show and did not involve any acts of violence.

Robinson has been serving as Vice Governor since 2021, and his opponent in the upcoming election is the Democratic nominee and current North Carolina Attorney General, Josh Stein. Incumbent Governor, Democrat Roy Cooper, is unable to run for re-election this fall due to term limits.

Recent reports have surfaced claiming that Robinson made anti-Semitic and racist remarks online over a decade ago. While Robinson vehemently denies these allegations and has hired a law firm to investigate, the rumors have caused concerns within the Republican party.

Democrats are seizing on this opportunity to gain ground in North Carolina, hoping to reverse the slight advantage Trump had in winning the state in 2020.

Several campaign officials of Robinson have resigned, including his senior aide, and many Republican groups have withdrawn their financial support for Robinson.
