NewJeans fulfills promise to donate all proceeds from University Anniversary celebration.

On the 3rd of June, the South Korean talent agency ADOR and their girl group NewJeans fulfilled their promise by donating all proceeds from their performances at seven university celebrations to a Korean scholarship foundation. This donation will be used to support low-income university students with living expenses and accommodation costs.

Every May, universities in South Korea celebrate their founding days, often inviting celebrities to perform at these events. On the 25th of May, during the first day of NewJeans’ performances at university celebrations, ADOR announced through their official fan community “Phoning” that all proceeds from NewJeans’ performances at seven universities would be donated.

In response to this initiative, ADOR and NewJeans stated: “During this week, being on the stage of seven university celebrations, we have received so much strength and love. We are passing on the love we have received to university students in need of help. We are thankful for this opportunity.”

The Korean scholarship foundation that received the donation expressed their gratitude to ADOR and NewJeans for their commitment to donating to economically disadvantaged university students. They pledged to do everything in their power to help students in need to continue their education stably and hoped that scholarship recipients would carry on the donors’ intention, becoming members of society who contribute to and benefit from this positive cycle of sharing.

NewJeans performed at a total of seven universities including Hallym University, Chosun University, Dong-Eui University, Pusan National University, Dongguk University, and Chung-Ang University. They performed their pre-released track “Bubble Gum” on April 27th and “How Sweet” released on May 24th.

Additionally, on the 2nd of June, according to the latest weekly music rankings released by YouTube (statistics from May 24th to 30th), NewJeans secured the top spot as the most popular artist of the week in Korea. Their single “How Sweet” not only topped the charts for hot music releases and popular songs of the week, but also ranked second on YouTube’s global hot songs of the week and ninth in the hot music video rankings of the week.
