New Yorkers Get a Taste of Summer Early as Temperatures Exceed 80 Degrees on Monday

Yesterday (April 29, Monday), the temperature in New York City soared to 83 degrees Fahrenheit, giving New Yorkers a taste of summer ahead of time.

Many people were seen wearing short-sleeved shirts, and some even donned tank tops. In Central Park, Manhattan, many took the opportunity to lie on the grass and sunbathe.

The temperature on Monday was significantly higher than that of April 29 last year, which was 53 degrees. Yesterday’s temperature also exceeded the historical average high temperature for April 29, which is 66 degrees.

However, yesterday’s temperature did not surpass the hottest April 29 on record in New York City, which was in 1974 when the temperature reached 89 degrees.

Meteorologists, however, mentioned that the summer-like heat on Monday was only temporary, with a slight chance of rain on Tuesday. The temperature is expected to drop back to the 60s, and the highest temperature for the remainder of the week will not exceed 70 degrees.
