New York Governor Kathy Hochul, together with Amtrak and the State Department of Transportation, announced on July 29 that the direct train tickets for this year’s summer annual event, the “Great New York State Fair,” have started selling. Visitors can now book train tickets in advance to plan their travel itinerary.
The Governor’s Office stated that the train to the Great New York State Fair is provided by Amtrak, and train travel is a safe, convenient, and environmentally friendly way to experience one of New York State’s premier summer events. The fair features top-notch musical performances, agricultural product exhibitions, first-class entertainment activities, and delicious food tastings.
The Great New York State Fair, established in 1841, is recognized as one of the top five state fairs in the United States. In recent years, it has been held in the outskirts of Syracuse, upstate New York, covering 375 acres, combining agricultural exhibitions and entertainment. This year, it will open on August 21 and run until Labor Day on September 2, spanning 13 days. The admission fee for adults is $8, children under 12 and seniors over 65 enter for free, and other expenses inside the venue are separate.
During the fair, there will be four trains stopping at the fairgrounds daily:
– Maple Leaf Train 64: Departs from Toronto at 8:20 AM and arrives at the fair at 2:28 PM
– Empire Service Train 281: Departs from New York at 10:21 AM and arrives at the fair at 4:19 PM
– Empire Service Train 283: Departs from New York at 1:21 PM and arrives at the fair at 7:11 PM
– Empire Service Train 284: Departs from Niagara Falls at 6:27 AM and arrives at the fair at 9:23 AM
Passengers on the train can enjoy free Wi-Fi, business class seating, unlimited use of electronic devices (no need to set on “flight mode”), a dedicated coffee car, spacious legroom, and large seats.
Visitors can now purchase train tickets through the official website Amtrak.com, the Amtrak mobile app, ticket counters at train stations, or by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL.
