On May 31st, the last day of this year’s Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, New York State Assemblyman and Chairman of the Aging Committee, Ron Kim, visited the Flushing community in New York to present awards to exemplary leaders and organizations within the Asian community, marking the conclusion of this year’s celebration.
The recipients of this year’s community awards included Lara Gregory, the Director of Filipino American Legal Defense and Education Fund, who received the “Advocate Award”; David Lee, Chairman of the Asian American Alliance of New York, who received the “Trailblazer Award”; as well as Hyun Tak Lee, President of the Queens Korean American Association, Samira Rajan, CEO of Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union, Dr. Wang Ming, Founder of the Wang Vision Restoration Foundation, and the Asian American Adult Day Care Association, among others, who were all recognized with accolades.
“Each awardee has made outstanding and impactful contributions to our community,” stated Ron Kim. “I hope to see them continue their relentless efforts in improving our lives.”
In his remarks, Kim emphasized the importance of recognizing the dedication and accomplishments of individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the betterment of the Asian community in New York. The awards ceremony served as a platform to honor those who have worked tirelessly to uplift and empower their communities, fostering unity and progress among Asian Americans in the state.
