New York police bravely rescue epileptic man who fainted on the railway track

Recently, a man who fell onto the tracks in the Bronx was rescued just before being shocked by the third rail. The heart-wrenching rescue was captured on the police officers’ body cameras.

On May 14th, bystanders near the intersection of Third Avenue and 149th Street at the subway station witnessed a man incapacitated and in a perilous situation. Around 5:30 pm, they alerted officers at the NYPD’s 47th precinct, responsible for the northbound platform turnstiles.

The man was lying on the ground, “having a seizure” and “fallen onto the subway tracks,” the police department told The Epoch Times.

Footage released by the NYPD at the scene shows officers immediately springing into action to assist the man, who lay motionless on the tracks. They noted, “He was merely inches away from the third rail, with an approaching train rapidly approaching the station.”

An officer entered the subway through an emergency exit opened by bystanders, while another person was seen jumping over the turnstile.

Despite the imminent danger posed by the oncoming train, the NYPD stated, “Officers swiftly jumped onto the roadbed and, with the assistance of MTA personnel and Good Samaritans, safely removed the man to a secure area.”

Pedestrians at the station helped lift the man to the platform. While one officer agilely climbed onto the platform on their own, another officer was seen attempting to climb up several times without success, with their gun belt getting caught on the platform’s edge.

With the help of their partner and onlookers, they eventually managed to extricate themselves from the danger.

The man who fell and suffered a medical emergency was swiftly transported to Health + Hospitals/Lincoln by emergency medical service personnel, and his condition is currently stable.

Meanwhile, over 70,000 spectators witnessed the rescue on scene, with many praising the officers for their involvement.

Reader Mommarad4 wrote, “It’s unbelievable how they put their lives in danger every day… like it’s nothing… that’s what they do.”

Reader Czanore commented, “They are the best of New York! Great job. Thank you.”

Others expressed criticism of the officers’ actions and motives.

“If they had truly been on the platform instead of outside the fare control area, perhaps they would have noticed sooner,” commented YouLocalUser, placing full blame on the police department.

Unvarnished Opinion shared a different perspective, stating, “I’m sure he’s probably in the city eating dinner while claiming police abuse of power.”
