New York Monroe County Massacre Suspect Captured, Dominican Illegal Immigrant Had Prior Criminal Record

New York State police announced last Friday (September 13th) that the 34-year-old suspect Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano, who is accused of killing a family of four in Monroe County, New York in late August, has been captured.

Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano is an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic. He entered the United States from Puerto Rico using forged documents and has been moving freely in New York State using fake identification since his arrival. Apart from the quadruple murder in upstate New York, Pimentel-Soriano also committed another murder in the Dominican Republic in 2019, which led to him being wanted by local authorities.

According to News 8 WROC, Pimentel-Soriano was arrested on September 7th and appeared in court last Saturday (14th), facing four counts of second-degree murder. First Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles stated to the media that Pimentel-Soriano’s immigration status is not the focus of the prosecution’s investigation into the case, but there are still many technical issues to be considered in the investigation.

The identities of the four victims have been revealed by the authorities: 30-year-old male Fraime Ubaldo, 26-year-old female Marangely Moreno-Santiago, 4-year-old girl Evangeline Ubaldo-Moreno, and 2-year-old boy Sebastian Ubaldo-Moreno.

The morning of August 31st was far from quiet in Irondequoit, Monroe County, with a population of just over 50,000 people. The local fire department received a call reporting a house fire at 329 Knapp Avenue. Firefighters quickly responded and extinguished the blaze. Upon searching the interior, firefighters discovered the lifeless bodies of the Ubaldo family of four in the basement.

Law enforcement officials soon confirmed that the Ubaldo family’s deaths were not a result of a simple fire but a premeditated murder. According to the New York Post, the Ubaldo family members were fatally stabbed in the neck and chest by the suspect Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano.

Irondequoit Police Chief Scott Peters expressed during a press conference that in his 32 years of service, he had never encountered such a heinous crime, calling it the worst he had ever seen. Chief Peters also expressed sorrow for the two innocent children who fell victim to the tragedy, stating, “Even children were not spared, I cannot comprehend.”

Responding to criticism about the lack of transparency in the investigation progress, Chief Peters explained that the police spent two days meticulously processing and collecting evidence at the crime scene, all in the effort to bring the perpetrator to justice. He also urged the public to empathize with the grieving families, emphasizing the importance of receiving information directly from the authorities rather than through social media.
