New York Governor Hochul’s Approval Rating Hits Record Low, Poll Shows Voters Displeased with Her Governance

A recent poll conducted by Siena College has revealed that the support rating and job approval of New York Governor Kathy Hochul have hit a new low. According to the survey, only 40% of registered voters in New York have a positive view of Hochul, while 49% hold a negative attitude towards her.

Hochul’s support among Republicans and independent voters in New York is particularly dismal. The poll indicates that 79% of Republican voters have a negative opinion of Hochul, with 81% disapproving of her job performance. Among independent voters, over half do not support her as governor.

Another focal point of the survey is the congestion pricing for drivers entering Manhattan below 60th Street. 63% of respondents expressed opposition to this plan, with only 25% in support.

The poll also highlights concerns among the public regarding shoplifting and the operation of unlicensed marijuana stores. The majority of voters see these issues as significant problems and support the state government taking stricter measures in addressing them.

Despite facing low support ratings, Hochul’s policies on combating retail theft and illegal marijuana sales align closely with the views of New Yorkers. The survey also found that a vast majority of New Yorkers (82%) consider the influx of nearly 190,000 undocumented immigrants into New York a serious problem, with most disapproving of the state and federal government’s handling of the situation.

As of now, the governor’s office has not provided a response to the poll results.
