In New York, after the Lieutenant Governor publicly expressed opposition to Biden’s re-election, Governor Hochul reiterated her support for Biden twice and stated that she has no plans to serve in the federal government in the future. She wishes to continue serving as the Governor of New York.
According to the New York Post, the media outlet reached out to 15 out of the 26 members of New York State’s congressional delegation, including Tom Suozzi, Meng Zhawen, Nydia Velazquez, Daniel Goldman, Jerry Naddler, and AOC. Apart from Suozzi, who did not publicly express a stance, the lawmakers who are running for re-election in November all support Biden. They have either taken to social media or publicly declared their positions to the media.
On Friday, Governor Hochul was asked at an unrelated press conference about any plans to serve in the federal government in the future, to which she unequivocally replied, “No.”
“As long as the voters support me, there is no job on earth that I would rather do than being the Governor of the greatest state in the country,” Hochul said.
She believed that Biden’s personal press briefing on Thursday night was a success.
“He is a person who upholds world order,” Hochul said. “If anyone is not clear on this, whether they are Democrats, Republicans, or Independents, I don’t know who you should listen to, but listen to what the President said last night.”
