New York City Government to Host Small Business Month Expo in Support of Local Businesses
The New York City government is set to host a new event in support of local small businesses – the “2024 Small Business Month Expo.” Organized by the New York City Small Business Services (SBS), the event will take place on May 29th at Pier 36 NYC in Manhattan.
The “2024 Small Business Month Expo” aims to help small business owners from various industries connect with municipal agencies, access legal and financial resources, and process licensing procedures. Kevin Kim, the outgoing Commissioner of the Small Business Services (SBS), mentioned on the “Mornings On 1” program on May 16th that small business owners will find free resources provided by the City of New York at the expo. Whether starting a new business, running an existing one, or looking to expand, the city government will be there to offer all services.
Kim also highlighted that 40 municipal agencies will participate, sharing available city contracts. Additionally, a series of new ads with the slogan “Shop Your City” will be launched to encourage New Yorkers to support small businesses.
Kim emphasized that the New York City Business Express Service, a rapid business service team, has provided significant assistance to small business owners over the past two years. He stated that the team has helped over 5,000 businesses by cutting red tape, saving $31 million. They can help small business owners open for business in half of the expected time.
