New York City Mayor Adams Vows to Seek Re-election Despite Being Charged

Although the city hall remains in turmoil, Mayor Adams stated on Tuesday (October 8) that he will continue to fulfill his term and run for reelection.

“I will serve my term and participate in the reelection campaign,” Adams told reporters at the weekly briefing held at City Hall. “My supporters and I believe that when both sides of the issue are revealed, people will reexamine the entire event surrounding me, which is what we are hoping for. You only know one side of the story, very creative. I believe my lawyer will present both sides of the matter.”

On the same day, Manhattan federal prosecutors filed criminal charges against former senior official of Adams’ administration, Mohamed Bahi, accusing him of tampering and destroying evidence in a case against the Mayor.

Bahi was described by the Mayor as “thoughtful.” The previous day, Bahi joined a series of high-profile resignations from the city government, including former First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and Asian Affairs Director Winne Greco.
