New Century Film and Television Wins 7 Awards at Nollywood International Film Festival.

The film “Dream of New Actors” and “Memory” from New Century Films recently won 7 awards at the Nollywood International Film Festival (BINFF) in Brampton, Canada. The awards included Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Short Film Director, and Best Foreign Language Film, making them one of the biggest winners at the festival.

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown presented certificates to the winners and congratulated New Century Films on their achievements, saying, “Congratulations to New Century Films for winning awards at the Brampton Nollywood Film Festival. It’s evident that New Century is continuously growing and gaining recognition through their successes at these film festivals. On behalf of the City of Brampton, I congratulate New Century Films.”

Several city officials also congratulated the winners at the event. Southgate Deputy Mayor Barbara Dobreen was impressed by the exceptional performance of New Century Films at the festival, stating, “You have a bright future ahead of you. You are a young company now, but there is a great future ahead for you.” Councilor Joan John also extended her congratulations, saying, “You are amazing, beautiful, brave. You are very charismatic, please keep going. We hope to see you win more awards next year. You are fantastic!”

Garnett Manning, a municipal advisor in Brampton, praised the talent and skills of the filmmakers, acknowledging the challenges involved in their work, both on and off the screen. Manning expressed delight in seeing them gracefully accepting awards and receiving recognition for their efforts.

Zhao Zhenru, who won Best Actress at the festival, expressed gratitude for being able to receive recognition from film professionals on a reputable platform. She mentioned the importance of storytelling through the art of cinema, particularly focusing on silenced stories from mainland China, thanking the audience for witnessing their award and acknowledging the courage portrayed in their storytelling. Feng Xiaoya, who won Best Supporting Actress, vowed to continue embodying the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance in portraying every role in outstanding works.

“Dream of New Actors” and “Memory” were showcased at the festival, captivating the audience with their emotional impact, inspiring many who attended the screenings by New Century Films.

Director of the award-winning film “Memory,” Aman Pannu, found the actors’ performances in the short film to be natural and touching, expressing her fondness for the movie. She emphasized its emotional depth and recommended it to those seeking more profound cinematic experiences.

Uzma Aziz Irfan, Executive Director of the Milton Women’s Committee, lauded “Memory” as a remarkable film that will stay with her as its title suggests, emphasizing the enduring impact of kindness portrayed in the film’s message.

The festival’s founder, Isioro Tokunbo Jaboro, thanked New Century Films for their contributions and praised the well-deserved recognition of the two award-winning films. He commended the New Century team for representing the Chinese community within Brampton’s diverse cultural landscape, expressing joy in witnessing outstanding films and praising their continuous support throughout the years. Jaboro expressed gratitude for the enriching experience of having New Century Films’ entries, “Dream of New Actors” and “Memory,” in the festival.

Since its establishment in 2018, New Century Films has produced over sixty films and received more than two hundred awards from various film festivals worldwide, showcasing their excellence and dedication in the film industry.
