NATO to Swiftly Provide Patriot Missiles to Ukraine

Today, on July 17th, the Supreme Military Commander of NATO, Alexus Grynkewich, announced that NATO is currently working with Germany to swiftly provide more Patriot missile defense systems to Ukraine to assist Ukrainian forces in repelling Russia’s fierce attacks.

Grynkewich stated during a meeting in Wiesbaden, Germany that US President Trump has clearly expressed intent to take a tougher stance against Russia and has committed to supplying Ukraine with new missile and military equipment. Currently, some Patriot missiles from Germany are already in transit to Ukraine.

According to Reuters, a source revealed that NATO will hold a special meeting as early as next Wednesday at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Belgium. The purpose of the meeting is to coordinate NATO countries in providing Ukraine with more air defense systems, with Grynkewich himself presiding over the meeting.

Grynkewich also mentioned that providing air defense systems to Ukraine also involves issues regarding the delivery sequence of equipment. He referenced US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s statement, pointing out that existing military equipment in European countries could be deployed to Ukraine more quickly, while newly produced equipment could supplement the air defense needs of donor countries themselves.

In addition, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated on Monday that Germany may decide to provide two more sets of Patriot missile systems to Kyiv in a matter of days or weeks. Germany had previously donated three such systems to Ukraine.

The Patriot missile system, produced by the American company Raytheon, is crucial equipment for Ukraine in defending against Russian ballistic missiles and hypersonic weapon attacks.
