On the evening of April 3, a dazzling blue-green fireball suddenly streaked across the night sky in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, with a long orange tail behind it. Many local netizens witnessed this miraculous scene.
Netizens in Shanghai exclaimed, “I was out for a walk when suddenly the sky lit up, blue-green, just like a sci-fi movie!” Netizens in Jiangsu also said, “In the southwest direction of Wuxi, a huge fireball! Brighter than the moon!”
According to information shared by netizens on social media platforms, around 7:56 pm on the 3rd, a giant meteor lit up the night sky without warning in Shanghai, Wuxi, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and other places. The brightness was extremely high, with a striking blue-green meteor dragging a long tail in the sky. It was very bright and lasted for a long time.
The Shanghai Meteor Monitoring Network (SHMN) announced on April 4 that its member, @我是勾哥的監控, also captured this fire meteor, shining like a brilliant gem, instantly illuminating the night.
Under the video, many netizens commented, “When I saw it, I thought it was a drone! The blue-green color was so dreamy!” “Last night while walking with friends, we saw it too! It flew horizontally at low altitude. Our first reaction was that it might be a meteor, but then we thought it couldn’t be. We thought maybe someone on a nearby high-rise balcony set off a small firework, but it turned out to be a meteor!” “Coordinates: Central Park of the Huacao International Business City. The meteor passed above Business Avenue, very close, probably falling near Hua Yi Hotel.” “It’s the first time I’ve seen a meteor, and it was a fire meteor. Because it was in an open area, the meteor trajectory visually was very low, very close to me. I thought it was someone else setting off fireworks, flying horizontally past me at ground level.” “I saw it too. My husband said I must have stars in my eyes.”
