A serious car accident occurred recently in the wealthy neighborhood of Rose Bay in Sydney, Australia. The driver responsible for the accident is 23-year-old Chinese woman Lanlan Yang. She was driving a Rolls-Royce which collided with a Mercedes-Benz, leaving the Mercedes-Benz driver seriously injured. Lanlan Yang was exposed to have astonishing wealth, but there is limited public information about her, leading to speculations about her background.
According to reports from Australian media news.com.au, UK’s Daily Mail, and Chinese media “Extreme News”, the accident took place in the early hours of July 27 in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. 23-year-old Chinese woman Lanlan Yang was driving a Rolls-Royce worth over $1 million when she crashed into a Mercedes-Benz. Both cars sustained serious damages to their front ends.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz at the time was radio host Kyle Sandilands’ driver George Pratsaras, who suffered severe injuries in the accident and was hospitalized with multiple fractures and a complete removal of his right hip joint.
Police stated that Lanlan Yang was uninjured and breathalyzed at the scene, showing a positive result. After being arrested, she remained silent and later posted a high bail amount for release, scheduled to appear in court on August 15 for trial.
Reports suggest that Lanlan Yang resides in a luxurious sea-view apartment in the expensive Vaucluse area of Sydney. Aside from the vehicle involved in the accident, she also owns another unregistered Rolls-Royce, and is known to wear high-end luxury brands such as Chanel and Hermes, with personal bodyguards escorting her. Neighbors describe her as polite but reserved, keeping a low profile and avoiding deep interactions with others.
Following the accident, photographs captured her being escorted away from the scene in extravagant attire with a total value possibly reaching $5,000.
Additionally, media reports indicate that Lanlan Yang resides in a prime luxury penthouse in Sydney’s eastern district, owning a white convertible Rolls-Royce besides the mishap vehicle.
Lanlan Yang often shields her face when faced with media cameras, with no visible photos of her face in local media reports. Online, she has no social media accounts, company registrations, property records, or LinkedIn profiles. Australian media describes her as “non-existent”.
Furthermore, the article mentions that Lanlan Yang is not the only young wealthy Chinese figure in Australia but part of a group with their own circles, described as “invisible” to locals.
In recent decades, the elite class with excessive privileges have been transferring vast hidden assets overseas and emigrating due to increasing feelings of insecurity, a fact no longer a secret. The exact wealth these elites possess remains unknown to the public.
Lanlan Yang’s true identity has sparked discussions on mainland Chinese networks. Netizens commented, “She’s very young, do we know which generation she belongs to?”
On August 8, a netizen “Jonathan” with an IP address indicating Australia shared information stating, “Lanlan Yang’s English name is Wendy Yang, residing in a seaside villa in Double Bay. She was previously involved in the iron ore business, having good relationships with Sino Steel. They mainly sell quotas of mines to Chinese listed companies and state-owned enterprises. These individuals have a fixed circle and hold regular meetings. The so-called iron ore business doesn’t involve selling iron ore directly but quotas. It’s a family business tradition, with an annual conference in Western Australia to distribute quotas, resulting in profits for the year. These people don’t sell directly but through intermediaries, transferring to the next generation of officials, and eventually finding those who do the actual work. 80% of the quotas are from Sino Steel, while the remainder is distributed among these people.”
