However, the related images were quickly deleted, and the scenic area denied the incident, contradicting the police statement, causing high public concern over the truth of the event.
On the afternoon of August 2nd, some netizens posted pictures and videos claiming that several tourists were stung by bees less than 100 meters away from the ticket entrance of the Mutianyu Great Wall in Beijing. Some people fainted while others cried.
The aforementioned pictures show a man with a backpack lying on the stairs. The video shows a tourist taking off his shirt, and other tourists crying. A 120 emergency ambulance passed by the “Great Wall-Mutianyu” monument, with numerous tourists nearby.
The related photos and videos were deleted on the morning of August 3rd.
According to Jiemu News, when contacting the staff at the Mutianyu Great Wall scenic area about the incident, they stated that the area was closed from July 27th to August 1st, was open on August 2nd, and temporarily closed on the 3rd due to geological disasters, without any knowledge of bee stings.
Police officers from the jurisdiction where the incident occurred confirmed receiving a report of bee stings at the Mutianyu Great Wall on August 2nd. However, they could not disclose specific details and advised to wait for the official notification.
