Musk and Bezos Clash Again on X

Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest men, have once again engaged in a social media “battle” on the platform X.

On Thursday (November 21), Musk posted on the social media platform X, saying, “Just found out at the lake house tonight that Bezos is telling everyone that Trump will definitely lose, so they should sell all their Tesla and SpaceX stocks.”

Musk, the CEO of electric car maker Tesla and space exploration technology company SpaceX, also owns the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

“No, 100% not true,” Bezos replied on X to Musk shortly after.

“Well, my bad then,” Musk responded, adding a big laughing emoji.

For years, these two world-renowned billionaires have clashed on social media. Bezos rarely posts on X, while Musk is known for frequent posts.

The two billionaires invest in different companies in some areas and compete with each other. SpaceX, led by Musk, dominates the rocket launch industry and operates the “Starlink” satellite network service. Bezos founded the space tourism and exploration company Blue Origin and is building a satellite network called “Project Kuiper.” In addition, Bezos’s Amazon is the largest shareholder of electric vehicle company Rivian, a competitor to Musk’s Tesla.

Musk and Bezos’ latest conflict is related to the newly elected President Trump. Musk is now a close ally of Trump, while Bezos has a distant relationship with him. During the 2024 election, Musk supported Trump financially and personally helped with his campaign. He has now been nominated by Trump to lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency.

Despite not being a fan of Trump, Bezos publicly praised Trump’s courage on X after Trump encountered a gunman attack for the first time during the summer.

“Tonight, our former president has shown tremendous grace and courage under real fire. Very grateful that he is safe and saddened for the victims and their families,” Bezos wrote.

Facing internal and external pressure, Bezos, who owns The Washington Post, even halted the tradition of endorsing presidential candidates before the election and added Trump’s X account after his election.

The day after the election, Bezos posted to congratulate Trump on “an extraordinary political comeback and decisive victory.” He wished Trump “full success in leading and uniting the America we all love.”

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk’s current net worth is estimated at $331 billion, while Bezos’ net worth is $226 billion.
