Suzhou Japan Mother and Child Attack Perpetrator Zhou Jiasheng was sentenced to death on January 23 of this year. According to a report by Japanese media on April 17, Zhou Jiasheng was executed yesterday (16th).
According to the Japanese media Kyodo News Agency citing sources, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the Japanese Embassy in China on the 16th that the perpetrator Zhou Jiasheng had been executed.
The incident occurred on June 24 last year. At that time, a mother and child waiting for a Japanese school bus at the station were attacked by Zhou Jiasheng with a knife. Hu Youping, who tried to stop the attacker, was fatally stabbed.
Zhou Jiasheng was arrested on the spot, indicted at the end of November last year, and sentenced to death on January 23 this year. At the time of the incident, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida called it a “heinous crime” and strongly demanded that the Chinese authorities clarify the situation and provide an explanation. However, China has not disclosed the motive for the crime.
Local Japanese expatriates have expressed that even after the trial, details such as why the Japanese school bus was attacked remain unclear, and China’s explanation is not sufficient.
In addition to Zhou Jiasheng, Zhong Changchun, the perpetrator who stabbed a 10-year-old Japanese boy in Shenzhen on September 18 last year, was also sentenced to death by the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court in January this year.
