Recently, a video of a “Weihai girl being surrounded and beaten by multiple people” surfaced, showing a girl cornered by several individuals, subjected to violence such as being whipped with a belt, hair pulled, and forcibly stripped of her clothing, sparking public outcry.
On June 20th, the Weihai City Police in Shandong Province released a statement saying that a video of a “21-year-old girl in Weihai being beaten by multiple people” had circulated online.
Upon investigation, the incident occurred on April 24th when the 21-year-old Yang and 23-year-old Liu reported being assaulted by multiple individuals.
It was found that on April 24th around 2 a.m., 16-year-old Qu and 15-year-old Li, having a dispute with Liu, gathered 16-year-old Gao, 17-year-old Zhang, and others in an underground parking lot in the jurisdiction to attack Liu.
Subsequently, at the same location, Liu’s friend Yang was also assaulted and insulted.
By June 13th, all suspects involved had been apprehended, with criminal measures and administrative detention imposed on them.
Prior to this, the circulated video depicted a girl being cornered by three people, subjected to violence like being whipped with a belt, slapped while kneeling, hair pulled, burned with a cigarette butt, and even humiliated by having her clothes forcibly removed.
The victim’s mother, Ms. Wang, told mainland media “People’s Concern” that the incident took place on April 24th, where her 21-year-old daughter had two fractured ribs.
She recounted the events of the day, stating, “Early that morning, that girl lured my daughter out and coerced her into a corner of an underground parking lot, stripped her daughter naked, posed her in various ways, and even burned my daughter with a lighter. My daughter spent over 20 days in the hospital. These perpetrators are idle people in society, without jobs or attending school, employing particularly cruel and heinous tactics.”
On June 20th, the topic “Police report: 21-year-old girl in Weihai assaulted by multiple people” trended on hot search, garnering attention and discussion among mainland netizens.

This year, mainland China has seen a string of incidents involving minors committing murder.
On March 10th, in Feixiang District, Handan City, Hebei Province, 13-year-old student Wang Ziyao was brutally murdered by three classmates. The announcement was made official a week after the brutal murder.
On March 22nd, outside the North Dingji Junior High School in Gengwu Town, Shuyang County, Suqian, Jiangsu Province, a 13-year-old boy stabbed to death a boy under 16 years of age with a knife.
In late April, a 17-year-old teenager in Rongchang District, Chongqing, killed another 17-year-old teenager with a fruit knife in the middle of the night.
On May 21st, in a secondary school in Yanjin County, Yunnan Province, a 15-year-old student stabbed a classmate with a fruit knife, resulting in the classmate’s death despite rescue efforts.
