Mudslide in Tianquan County, Sichuan Province Leaves at Least 3 Dead, 2 Injured, and 2 Missing

Recently, Sichuan Ya’an was hit by heavy rain, and a mudslide occurred near Longwei Bridge in Tianquan County, Ya’an. It is currently known that at least 3 people have died, 2 injured, and 2 missing.

According to reports from mainland Chinese media on July 7th, around 1 pm on July 5th, a sudden mudslide occurred near Longwei Bridge in Xiangzhen, Tianquan County, Ya’an City, Sichuan Province (National Highway 318). The mudslide carried a large amount of mud, sand, and rocks, rushing down and instantly destroying the road. Three passing trucks were buried, one has been excavated, while the positions of the other two are still pending clearance.

The incident has so far resulted in 3 fatalities, 2 missing persons, and 2 lightly injured individuals, with search and rescue operations still ongoing.

Financial blogger “Fortune Comes Naturally” stated, “At the time of the incident, a large amount of mud, sand, and rocks poured down from the hillside, and the vehicles passing by and nearby individuals couldn’t escape in time. Several vehicles were buried, and three houses in the vicinity were also impacted, with some walls cracked.”

Public information shows that Longwei Bridge in Tianquan County is located in Xiangzhen, Ya’an City, a key transportation hub in the county, connecting National Highway G318 with the intersection of Ya’an-Ye Expressway about 200 meters southwest. The surrounding area includes major roads such as Tianquan Bridge and Hunie Line.
