Morning leisurely heads to Hong Kong for singing and feasting, following Shu Qi’s footsteps to “hunt for fragrance”.

Taiwanese girl group CHENYO was invited to Hong Kong to participate in the “PUNCHLive GIG 2024” concert. It was their first time performing in Hong Kong, and they were very excited before the trip, fully dedicated to their performance and rehearsals.

For this event, they specially included Cantonese songs in their repertoire, challenging hits like Eason Chan’s “Tomorrow Will Be Better”, Twins’ “Goddess of the Next Stop”, and Hins Cheung’s “Invisible Playground”. Despite both members being talented singers, they faced challenges in pronunciation as they practiced diligently to get the Cantonese tones just right.

Their hard work paid off during the performance as they received cheers and praises from the audience. The Hong Kong fans were impressed by their standard pronunciation in Cantonese songs. The members joyfully remarked, “When we sang Cantonese songs, the Hong Kong fans widened their eyes in surprise. We hope they enjoy the special gifts we prepared for them.”

CHENYO prepared a diverse setlist for their debut performance in Hong Kong, starting with a heartfelt ballad “You Say It’s Easy” and a lively rhythm in “Actually Sounds Pretty Good,” showcasing their versatile singing skills.

They expressed their excitement about performing in Hong Kong for the first time and cherished the unique opportunity to meet their fans there. They were thrilled to see fans who traveled from Taipei to attend their previous concert, saying, “This time, we finally get to meet you in Hong Kong!” They appreciated how music brings people together and allowed them to connect with their Hong Kong fans through this performance.

In addition to singing their hits from the previous year like “Can You Love Me for Just One Day” and “Wait for the Misty Night to Tell Me You Love Me”, CHENYO also arranged cover songs ranging from G.E.M.’s “Light Years Away”, Joanna Wang’s “Promise”, to Deserts Chang’s “Really Silly”, as well as Cantonese medleys, captivating the fans, especially with their rendition of “Wild Child” that propelled them to fame, receiving continuous cheers for their harmonious vocals.

They concluded the show with a powerful performance of their senior brother Wei Li’an’s hit song “If Possible”.

Despite the packed schedule, CHENYO, adept at managing time, made sure to indulge in Hong Kong’s delectable cuisine during their free time. They even dared to try the intriguingly named “Duck Feces Lemon Tea” and after tasting it boldly, they exclaimed, “This tea has a unique floral fragrance, truly reminiscent of orchids. It’s a distinct aroma from the Golden Orchid Oolong Tea. Everyone should give it a try!”

Initially thinking that their three-day itinerary wouldn’t allow time for a visit to the place they had been eager to explore before the trip – the renowned 60-year-old aroma essential oil store recommended by actress Shu Qi – they were pleasantly surprised to discover that the store was right next to where they had breakfast. This unexpected fulfillment of their wishlist for the Hong Kong trip left CHENYO eagerly exclaiming that they would love to visit Hong Kong again.
