Mississippi Bus Accident: Seven Dead, Many Injured

According to the coroner of Warren County, Mississippi, a bus accident occurred earlier on Saturday in the eastern part of Vicksburg, Mississippi, resulting in seven deaths and several injuries.

The coroner, Doug Huskey, mentioned that among the fatalities in the crash that occurred on the westbound side of Highway 20, there was a pair of children from the same family, aged 6 and 16.

The large commercial bus overturned near Bovina.

Reported by CNN, authorities stated that a 2018 Volvo commercial bus was traveling westbound on I-20 when it suddenly veered off the road and overturned. Seven people died, with six pronounced dead at the scene and one passed away in the hospital. The identities of the victims have not been confirmed.

Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) informed that 37 passengers were transported to various hospitals in Vicksburg and Jackson with injuries of unknown severity. The co-driver was not taken to the hospital.

MHP and the Department of Transportation are currently investigating the accident.

“Any time there is injury or death, it is a tragedy, but the situation worsens when there are multiple deaths and injuries involved.”

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace told WAPT, a CNN affiliate.
