Mental Airline Flight Evacuated Urgently Due to Bomb Threat

On Thursday morning (June 5th), a flight operated by Spirit Airlines in the United States received a bomb threat before taking off from Detroit City in Michigan, prompting the emergency evacuation of passengers.

The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. on Thursday, with Spirit Airlines Flight 2145 scheduled to depart from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, commonly known as Detroit Metropolitan Airport, heading to Los Angeles, California.

According to the Wayne County Airport Authority, due to the bomb threat, all passengers were deplaned and escorted to the Evans Terminal.

A spokesperson for Detroit Metropolitan Airport stated in a release, “On Thursday morning, the Wayne County Airport Authority’s Emergency and Support Services Department, airport operations team, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) responded to a bomb threat involving the Spirit Airlines aircraft at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.”

Spirit Airlines also issued a statement regarding the incident, indicating that law enforcement authorities requested them to conduct a check on the flight before departure due to “potential security issues”.

“The aircraft taxied to a remote location, passengers safely deplaned and were escorted back to the terminal,” the statement read. “Passengers underwent re-screening, law enforcement conducted an inspection of the aircraft and confirmed it was safe. The safety of passengers and crew is our top priority, and we are working diligently to get passengers to their destination as quickly as possible.”

After passengers eventually reboarded, the flight proceeded to Los Angeles.

At present, it is unclear where the threat originated from. Detroit Metropolitan Airport stated that the incident is still under investigation.
